Family Support at the Heart of AFDDI’s Approach

AFDDI supports vulnerable families through an integrated approach combining social protection, training, savings, economic activity and responsible financing.

Family Support at the Heart of AFDDI’s Approach

At AFDDI, we believe that the challenges faced by a family cannot always be addressed through an isolated intervention. Economic hardship may be connected to social, educational, health or psychosocial needs that must also be considered.
Our approach therefore places the family at the centre of the support process. It begins with a better understanding of the family’s situation, priorities and capabilities. This assessment helps direct interventions towards the most important needs while progressively creating the conditions for sustainable autonomy.
Depending on the situation, the pathway may include support for urgent needs, social assistance, skills development, savings education and the development of an income-generating activity.
Microcredit is used as a tool within this broader pathway. It is not an end in itself. Any financing must be adapted to the person’s repayment capacity, the viability of the proposed activity and their level of preparedness.
The AKIBA platform supports the operational management of the programme by strengthening traceability and monitoring. Individual member information remains confidential. Only aggregated, verified and approved results may be published on the AFDDI website.
Through this approach, AFDDI aims to help families strengthen their stability, develop their capabilities and build their own future.
